I'm Kelley, the owner + maker behind Maddie and Me! We now call the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago home, but I started my small business in 2015 when our family was living in London. My daughter, Madeline, had started nursery and having a few extra hours in my day, I wanted to learn something new and I knew it would involve making things for her.

I ended up falling in love with the beautiful Liberty of London fabrics and this set things in motion. I bought a sewing machine, taught myself to sew, and opened my Etsy shop and originally stocked it with hand-tied bows. When my little guy, Logan, came along I made bow ties for a couple of years too!

The latest additions to my brand, knotted headbands and braided headbands, came about during the pandemic when I was looking for a headband for myself but couldn’t find one in a fabric I liked or one that was comfortable to wear all day. This was the start of the gorgeous headbands you'll find in my shop today!

Sewing is my creative outlet. I love finding beautiful fabrics and source them from small businesses and from abroad. All of these special touches are what make our accessories ones you will want to reach for time and time again!
